Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)

EDI is a platform for exchange of business documents that is widely utilized in many manufacturing environments. Tenneco prefers to process all B2B communications with their partners via EDI (when suppliers are EDI capable). Tenneco utliizes EDI for the following core messages: Scheduling Agreements, Acknowledgments, Advanced Ship Notices (ASNs) and in appropriate cases, Purchase Orders.

Central componenets of the EDI concept are the following standards for the data interchange: Electronic Data Interchange For Administration, Commerce and Transport (EDIFACT), American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and in some European cases, German VDA. These standards are internationally established and no others will be supported by Tenneco. Tenneco utilizes Covisint as its VAN for suppliers.

EDI Specifications for Tenneco NA and Tenneco EU can be found in the region specific version of the Tenneco Supplier Manual.
